Community Outreach Programs

Bicycle Safety Rodeo

The Bicycle Safety Rodeo stresses bicycle safety education and instruction to young riders. Participants riding skills, knowledge of traffic laws and right of way are tested through various exercises performed on the AAA approved course. It is held twice a year during May and June in cooperation with the Pompton Lakes Board of Recreation.

Child Passenger Safety

Pompton Lakes Police Department personnel offers assistance with the proper installation of infant and child booster seats. Personnel is certified by Safe Kids USA to install child seats. Anyone needing assistance can call for an appointment.

L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs)

Programs taught by police officers to educate children how to live drug and violence-free lives and how to resist peer pressure.



Junior Police Academy

This Academy is for middle school children of the borough.  Officers teach children basic police procedures along with a physical education curriculum.

National Night Out

This night is set aside to recognize the efforts made by neighborhoods, communities, local businesses and civic organizations and law enforcement agencies fight against crime and drug abuse.

Law Enforcement Torch Run

Pompton Lakes Police participate in the annual "Law Enforcement Torch Run." The Torch Run is an international program of year-round sports competition for children and adults with developmental disabilities. It is run by law enforcement officers to raise money and awareness for "Special Olympics."
