Other Ordinances
Dumping or Placing Snow on Streets or Roadways Prohibited
It is hereby prohibited and unlawful for any residential homeowner or tenant, commercial property owner or commercial tenant or their employees, agents, contractors or contractors' employees to dump, plow, shovel or otherwise place snow onto the streets or roadways located in the Borough of Pompton Lakes.
Ice & Snow Removal
The owners and occupants of premises abutting and bordering upon any street, avenue or highway in this Borough shall remove all ice and snow from the sidewalks of any such street, avenue or highway abutting or bordering their premises within twenty-four (24) hours after the same shall have fallen or be formed thereon.
Seasonal Parking
Whenever snow has fallen and the accumulation is such that it covers the street, highway or thoroughfare to such a depth that snow removal or plowing is necessary, thus creating an emergency, it shall be unlawful for any vehicle to be parked on any street in the Borough of Pompton Lakes. The above parking prohibition shall remain in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently to the extent that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic.
Schedule II: Parking Prohibited During Certain Hours on Certain Streets
In accordance with the provisions of Chapter 183-4, no person shall park a vehicle between the hours specified upon any of the following described streets or parts of streets:
- Van Avenue
West Side
8 a.m - 3 p.m.
Monday - Friday
From Lakeside Avenue to Lenox Avenue - Wanaque Avenue
Both Sides
3:30 a.m. - 8 a.m.
Monday - Saturday
From Ringwood Avenue to Passaic Avenue
Schedule V: Metered Parking Permits
- The following is a synopsis of Chapter 183-7 regarding metered parking limits in the Borough of Pompton Lakes:
- Metered parking regulations do not apply on:
- Christmas Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Memorial Day
- New Year's Day
- Sundays
- Thanksgiving Day
- The maximum time limit to park in a metered parking space is three hours
- Metered parking regulations are in effect during the following hours:
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Monday through Thursday - 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday
- 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Use of Go-Peds
The use of Go-Peds on public and school roadways, sidewalks, parks and facilities is prohibited. These motorized electric or gas powered scooters are defined by law as fitting under the statutory definition of a motorcycle, but fail to meet the safety standards required by law. Their use is only permitted on private property with the owner's permission.
